About Us
Hello, my name is Dan Barrett. As you probably know we are the new kids on the block. I hold a Red Seal in both General Carpentry, and Cabinet Making, with over 25 years in the trade. For the last 4 years, I have been making custom presentation planes for various organizations and private collections. Both of my sons are still in their teens and have become very interested in pursuing planemaking. As a family, we have decided to become the newest reproduction plane making and replacement parts company. My oldest son Kyle, has started to come into his own as a plane maker. Competing in Woodcentral's tool making contest has given him the incentive to continue making and developing planes. Jeremy, our youngest son, is developing his skills machining the planes metal parts. Me, well I just kind of do a little of everything, okay a lot of everything. It is dificult to find the right words to explain the feeling of using a finely crafted hand tool. The only way to truly know, is to use one yourself.A plane should come to hand and feel as if it belongs there. We strive to make our planes as comfortable as possible, following the old tried and true methods of plane making. Our bench plane bodies are constructed of one piece solid quartersawn beech. Plough and fillester planes will be available in beech and selected exotic woods.
